Two People Dead in High-Speed Crash While Fleeing Police in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa - Two people are dead from a high-speed crash while fleeing from a traffic stop.

Deputies says the driver of a red Dodge Charger sped away on 12th Street in Des Moines after being stopped for speeding.

Des Moines Police then found the car fully engulfed in flames in a wooded area after reports it had crashed.

The car entered the wooded area directly north of the T intersection of 12th Street and Oak Park Avenue. The intensity of the fire prevented immediate rescue efforts.
