Grimes Youth Sports Park Construction Delayed

Cloudy Baseball Field

(Grimes, IA) -- A pandemic shortage of lumber, steel, and other materials necessary to build a ballpark is delaying the construction of a new sports complex in Grimes. The youth sports complex section of the Grimes Plex and Hope Entertainment District along Highway 141 was scheduled to be completed by this fall. But the nationwide shortage of construction materials might prevent all 13 soccer fields and 16 baseball fields from being built on time. Hope Development and Realty's Tim Day tells WHO-13 they hope to get a couple soccer fields completed by this fall, and the youth sports complex should be complete by the summer of 2022. Lumber prices are at an all time high and steel prices have tripled because of the shortages.
