Iowa DCI Changing Tactics in Search for Missing Montezuma Boy

MONTEZUMA, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation is changing tactics in the search for an 11-year-old missing boy.

Xavior Harrelson left his home in Montezuma last Thursday morning and has not been seen since.

After organizing a massive ground search earlier, DCI says it's changing its focus. “Unless we get more specific tips on where to search, we will focus on the investigative side of it,” Mitch Mortvedt, Assistant Director of DCI told KCRG-TV.

DCI is now trying to collect surveillance footage from area homes and businesses and believes Harrelson is no longer in the immediate area.

The Omaha Field Office of the FBI announced Tuesday it had joined in the search for the boy.
