Des Moines Woman Pleads Guilty to Fayette County Vehicular Homicide

(Fayette County, Iowa) -- A Des Moines woman is pleading guilty to fatally hitting a teenager with her car.

Kelli Jo Michael's guilty plea admits that she was driving recklessly through the town of Fayette (FAY-ett), Iowa in June of 2018, when she rear-ended 14-year old Kaiden Estling while he was on a moped.

Michael admits to not stopping after hitting Estling, who died at the scene. She now faces up to ten years in prison and will face sentencing on June 12th.

She has agreed to pay Estling's family $150 thousand dollars as part of the plea deal.
