Study: Iowa's Pandemic Recovery Fastest in the Nation

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- Iowa is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic faster than any other state in the country, according to a new study from a national finance website.

Jill Gonzalez with WalletHub.com says Iowa is one of only three states in the country that experienced an increase in small-business work hours compared to pre-pandemic levels. WalletHub credits Iowa's fast recovery in part with the fact that the state never fully shut down and kept its economy largely open throughout the course of the pandemic.

Gonzalez says Iowa is one of only eight states in the country with no hospitals reporting supply shortages in the past week, and also has one of the lowest numbers of COVID-related doctor visits.

WalletHub ranks Iowa at the top of the pandemic recovery list followed by Nebraska, Alaska, South Dakota, and New Hampshire in the top five.
