(Des Moines, IA) -- Much of our region is under a heat advisory today, from Omaha, Nebraska where they're predicting a record high of 104, through Des Moines and Ames, and on to the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area where it'll be in the mid to upper 90s today. The one-day heatwave will miss the Quad Cities area, but the storms won't.

Thunderstorms are likely throughout the region, including Omaha, Nebraska, Council Bluffs and Sioux City, in Western Iowa today; but most of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin are in the target zone for severe storms. There could be hail, high winds, an isolated tornado, and possible heavy rain and flooding.
