Suspect in Linn County Sheriff deputy shooting in custody

LINN COUNTY, Iowa -- A man accused of shooting a Linn County Sheriff's deputy Sunday night is in custody.

Police say Stanley Donahue, 36, of Chicago, Ill. was seen by a KCRG-TV9 crew walking down Highway 13 near Coggon on Monday.

Donahue is accused of shooting the deputy several times has he responded to a robbery in progress at the Casey’s General Store in Coggon late Sunday night.

Donahue was the target of a multi-agency manhunt after running from police Sunday night following a car chase.

The deputy was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with serious injuries.

He's in stable condition.
