One splash pool in Des Moines was closed on Monday due to leftover illegal Sunday night fireworks that left the facility unusable.
Des Moines Parks and Recreation made the announcement on Twitter, with pictures showing used fireworks and trash scattered around and near a splash pool at Pete Crivaro Park.
There were exploded mortars, bottle rockets, and other fireworks all over the pool's surface. Parks and Recreation said its team was working to remove debris and clean the facility Monday while it was closed.
