Iowa Native Wins Bronze at Tokyo Paralympic Games

(Tokyo, Japan) -- An Iowan is bringing home a medal from the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Ankeny native Justin Phongsavahn won bronze in the javelin throw on Friday. Phongsavahn has been paralyzed from the waist down since being shot in 2015.

He graduated from Ankeny Centennial High School and earned a degree from Des Moines Area Community College before deciding to train for the Paralympics full-time.
