Newton man charged with arson, burglary after Kellogg house fire

(Jasper County, IA) -- A Newton man is charged with arson and burglary, stemming from a house fire in Kellogg. Crews were called to 304 East Street in Kellogg Wednesday around 12:30. Crews put out the fire and found no one was inside. The resident was found later.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office says as the investigation progressed, it was determined the fire was suspicious. Deputies later arrested 39-year-old Edward Jacob Wheeler of Newton. He's charged with 2nd Degree Arson and 2nd Degree Burglary, and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
