(West Des Moines, Iowa) -- Some West Des Moines residents are finding wires and pipes sticking out of their front lawns, but it's all part of a plan to bring faster internet service to the area.

The City of West Des Moines says residents will have to put up with the pipes and wires for two to four weeks before they can be put underground. It will be about two years before the $40 million dollar project is up and running.

The city is reminding homeowners not to remove the conduits from their yards during the installation process.
