(Des Moines, IA) -- Governor Kim Reynolds is making a trip to the United States' border with Mexico this week. According to a statement from the office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Gov. Reynolds will be attending a press conference in Mission, Texas with Gov. Abbott and 9 other Republican governors on Wednesday.
This summer, around 30 Iowa State Patrol troopers were deployed to the Mexico border to complete visibility patrols for nearly two weeks. According to Stephan Bayens, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, the deployment from Gov. Reynolds likely costed the state approximately $300,000.
In September, Gov. Reynolds and 25 other governors requested a meeting with President Biden over the situation at the U.S. southern border.
