(Whiting, Indiana) -- University of Iowa's mascot, Herky the Hawk is among this year's nominees for the Mascot Hall of Fame. He's up against Minnesota's Goldy the Gopher and Purdue Pete of the Big Ten, and a long list of mascots from a wide range of colleges and pro sports teams. A few of the already inducted mascots include a few of Herky's rivals, Brutus of Ohio State, Bucky of Wisconsin, Lil' Red of Nebraska, and Cool Cat of Penn State.
Fans can vote once per day on the Mascot Hall of Fame's website. The first round of voting ends October 9th. A final vote will be October 17th to the 23rd.
