Iowa has 13 water towers competing for "Tank of the Year"

(Undated) -- A water tower in Pleasant Hill is one of a dozen Iowa tanks competing for a national prize. Kansas City-based Tnemic Company holds the competition each year. Voters can vote for their favorites on the company's website. The deadline to do so is Friday, October 15th. A Committee will judge the finalists based on artistic value, significance of the tank to the community, and challenges encountered during construction. The winner will be announced later this month.

Other Iowa water towers in the running include tanks from the following cities:

Charlotte, Corydon, Elkader, Holstein, Lincoln, Nora Springs, Onawa, Ottumwa, Rockford, Sidney, South Sioux City, and Wapello.
