(Des Moines, IA) -- An inmate at the Anamosa State Penitentiary has confessed to killing a man in Des Moines. Des Moines Police say inmate William "Billy" Rulli [[ ROO-lee ]] told a corrections officer he killed Stanley Golinsky, a homeless man October 24th, 2012. Police found Golinsky's beaten and burned body under a railroad bridge downtown Des Moines

Detectives say they had identified Rulli as a possible suspect but did not have enough evidence to file charges. Police say Rulli was known to harass homeless people in Des Moines at the time of Golinsky's death. Police say Rulli was well known to local law enforcement for other crimes, including a brutal robbery of a Des Moines homeowner in 2015.
