(Milan, Illinois) -- The Rock Island County Coroner is confirming the identity of the man fatally hit by a car Wednesday morning on his way to picket outside a John Deere Facility.
Coroner Brian Gustafson says 56 year-old Richard Rich of Moline died from multiple chest injuries caused by the accident in Milan, Illinois. The United Auto Workers Union is confirming that Rich was a member of Milan Local 79 and a 15-year worker at the John Deere Parts Distribution Center.
UAW workers have been on strike at John Deere facilities across the Midwest since October 14th.
