Des Moines man shot earlier this month dies from injuries

(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man shot earlier this month dies from his injuries.

Des Moines Police say the night of December 2nd, 46 year old Andrew Hall, Sr. was shot near 29th and Grand Ave. while trying to stop a disturbance between a teenager and a woman. Investigators say that night, 17 year old Drake Armstrong got into an argument with a woman in the parking lot of a bar, when Hall tried to step in and diffuse the situation. Police say Armstrong got aggressive with Hall and shot him. Hall was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died Monday morning, 25 days later.

Armstrong is charged with First Degree Murder, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Assault While Participating In A Felony and Felon In Possession Of A Firearm. Detectives learned during the investigation that Armstrong has been previously convicted, following a July 2020 arrest, of firearms-related offenses and was on supervised release at the time of the shooting. Hall's death is the 13th homicide of 2021 in Des Moines.
