(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines School Board approves a new approach to building a community football stadium at Drake University. On Tuesday the board approved bidding the $19.5-million project in separate segments with hopes the school district will get more competitive bids. Those bids should go out sometime next month. The project has been in the works for several years but keeps getting delayed because of high construction costs. The last two bids were rejected when they came in over budget. The stadium’s currently expected to open in the fall of 2023.
