(Undated) -- Iowans are spending more money than ever before gambling on sports. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission says Iowans spent over $2-billion betting on sports in 2021, generating about $8-million in tax revenue for the state. That's more than three times what was spent in 2020, $575-million. The biggest reason for the jump is remote registration, which means you can sign up and operate an online sports betting account without physically being located at a casino. The Racing and Gaming Commission says nearly 90% of wagers placed in 2021 were placed online.
