Trial of Man Accused of Killing Iowa State Trooper to be Moved

(Iowa) -- The trial of the man accused of killing an Iowa State Trooper is being moved.

The trial of Michael Lang will not take place in Grundy County, where the shooting happened. A judge granted a motion for a venue change but said the court will need more time to find a new location for the trial. Police say Lang assaulted a Grundy Center Police officer during a traffic stop in April of last year, then barricaded himself inside his home and fatally shot Sergeant Jim Smith during a standoff.

While the location has yet to be determined, the trial is scheduled to start on April 27th.
