Des Moines Police Identify Suspect In Attempted Car Theft On South Side

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines police identify a man accused of trying to steal a car at a south side gas station. Police say 24-year-old Cory Copley tried to steal a car from the parking lot of the Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh on Southeast 14th Street last night. Police say Copley backed into a support beam at the gas station, causing heavy damage to the car and the beam. Police say he was arrested before he could leave the scene. He's facing several charges including first-degree robbery. The victim of the carjacking suffered minor injuries.
