WalletHub: Nebraska Has 8th-Highest Property Taxes In The U.S.

(Undated) -- Nebraska has some of the highest property taxes in the country. According to WalletHub, the effective real-estate tax rate in Nebraska is 1.73%, 8th-highest in the U.S. Based on the median home value in the state the average Nebraskan pays $2,689 a year in property taxes. WalletHub says the state with the lowest property taxes is Hawaii and the state with the highest is New Jersey. The full ranking of states is available here.
