One Des Moines Teen Dead After East High School Shooting

(Des Moines, IA) -- One teenager is dead and two others are seriously hurt after a drive-by shooting outside Des Moines' East High School. The Des Moines Police Department is saying a 15-year-old male who is not an East High student is dead. Two East High females, ages 16 and 18, are hospitalized in critical condition. Police say the shooting happened from a moving car outside of the school just before 3 p.m. Monday. Des Moines police are confirming the FBI and the ATF are assisting in the investigation along with the Iowa State Patrol and the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The department is saying more information will be released this morning at eight. This is the fourth homicide in Des Moines in 2022.
