(Des Moines, IA) -- The city of Des Moines will have some extra money to fix potholes this spring.

City leaders say Des Moines only used $1.2 million of it's $3 million snow removal budget this winter. Des Moines Public Works says the total winter snowfall was below average and mostly fell over just a few storms.

That leaves the surplus budget of almost $2 million to go toward filling and fixing potholes.
