Creighton Womens' Basketball Gets Heroes Welcome

After being greeted by fans of "Bluejay Nation" Sunday upon their return to the campus in Omaha with a spot in the "Sweet 16" in hand, the Creighton Womens' basketball team now prepares to play Iowa State this Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina in a regional semifinal game.

A game time and network television coverage for that game are to be announced Monday evening.

Sophomore Lauren Jensen's three-pointer with 12.6 seconds helped the Jays earn a trip to its first "Sweet 16" in program history with a 64-62 win over Iowa, stunning the crowd on the Hawkeyes' home court in a state that historically played a major role in the development of American womens' and girls' basketball.

Also part of the drama in Iowa City was that Jensen transferred to the "The Hilltop" campus in Omaha from the Iowa program a year ago.

She scored nine of Creighton's 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Jays ended the game on a 6-0 run in the final 1:25.
