Bellevue "Dine And Dash" Call Leads To Stand Off And Two Arrests

After negotiating with a robbery suspect in a pick up truck early Monday evening, Bellevue Police says officers used pepper balls to arrest the man in a parking lot near Golden Blvd. and Nebraska Highway 370.

Police say they moved in after the man put the pick up in reverse and hit a police vehicle blocking in the suspect vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Omaha.

Investigators say 31 year old Gatluak Pal was arrested on a number of charges, including one connected to an earlier robbery.

It all began around 5:30 p.m. when Bellevue Police were called to the "T-Mobile" store at 20th and Cornhusker Road regarding a robbery.

Two males were accused of stealing property and fleeing in a red, Ford F-150 pick-up.

A few minutes later, Bellevue Police went to "China Buffet" along Sampson Way regarding two males, who ate a meal and left without paying.

Investigators say the suspects and their vehicle were similar to descriptions from the robbery at the "T-Mobile."

During a stand off, while attempting to negotiate for the two occupants to surrender, the passenger got out of the vehicle, but the driver refused.

Police say Pal faces a number of charges including Robbery.

Officers also arrested the passenger, 21-year-old Samuel Chaplain, on a number of charges including Accessory to Robbery.
