(West Des Moines, Iowa) -- A Des Moines man charged in a crash that killed two motorcyclists is back in custody.

Des Moines police say they were initially investigating an abandoned vehicle early Monday morning near 86th Street and University Avenue when they got a call from a convenience store employee about two suspicious people in the area. Officers arrested the two for public intoxication, and later identified one as Quntonio Herron.

He'd been missing for months after failing to show up for court dates. He's charged with vehicular homicide in a crash that killed 51 year-old Jerry Coles and 47 year-old Kristy Hyde and seriously injured Stacey Coles-Behle. Investigators say Herron crashed into the motorcyclists at the intersection of East 14th Street and Washington Avenue in May of last year.
