Almost All of Nebraska in Some Level of Drought

LINCOLN, Nebraska -- For another week, nearly all of the state of Nebraska is under some level of drought.

This week's National Drought Monitor Map, from the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, shows an expansion of extreme drought in East-Central Nebraska--now touching parts of, or covering, 10 counties.

The map also shows severe drought in 60 percent of the state.

Just one percent of Nebraska--in the Eastern and Southeast corner--are drought free.

This week's map doesn't reflect any rain or snow that fell on the state after Tuesday morning, when data was collected.
