Iowa to spend $2.25 Million for summer teen internship programs

(Des Moines, IA) -- More than two-Million dollars is being awarded for internships that will give hundreds of high school students in Iowa summer work experiences.

Several businesses are among the 35 programs chosen, and include Iowa Solar in Davenport, Metro Pavers in Iowa City, Alliant Energy in Marshalltown, and Unity Point in Des Moines. Other grants are going to more traditional programs like schools and non-profits.

Across Iowa, an estimated 659 students from 85 Iowa communities will be selected for the summer internships.

Part of the $2,255,441 dollars in grant funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act.
