(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Senate is asking U.S. lawmakers to look into a 6-month federal gas tax holiday.

Republican State Senator Zach Nunn is heading the resolution, which also calls for energy transparency and a need to protect America's fuel reserves.

The federal gas tax is 18 cents a gallon. The state gas tax in Iowa is 30 cents a gallon.

Leaders in the Iowa House say Iowa's Gas Tax is important to keep because it funds infrastructure projects.
