(Cedar Rapids, ST) -- As police investigations into the deadly Cedar Rapids nightclub shooting roll on, other city leaders are looking at it from a different angle.

"What's the city's role in all of this? Certainly, its to make sure that we have programs where we can proactively meet people where they are," says Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell.

Two people were killed and ten others were injured in the shooting at Taboo Nightclub early Sunday morning. While this brings the number of homicides in Cedar Rapids so far this year to five, O'Donnell says violent crime is not becoming a widespread issue.

"What I also have learned is ... the percentage of people committing these crimes in our town, according to the Chief [of Police Wayne Jerman], is .06%," says O'Donnell.

Police continue to investigate the shooting. They reportedly believe the shooting was targeted and the two suspects are both male.
