(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issues a disaster proclamation for seven counties.

The proclamation opens the state's resources for the recovery from the strong winds, hail, at least four confirmed tornadoes, and other effects of severe weather on April 12th.

Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Humboldt, Mitchell, Pocahontas, Winneshiek, and Worth counties are all under the proclamation.

Households in those counties with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level for a family of three can apply for grants of up to $5,000 for home or car repairs, food or clothing replacement, and temporary housing expenses.

Qualifying residents can apply here, and have 45 days to submit a claim.
