(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Supreme Court is hearing a case today that will determine if a former United States Representative from Iowa will be on a ballot this summer.

The highest court in the state is hearing an appeal by Abby Finkenauer on if she is able to be on this June’s Democratic primary ballot for the United States Senate. A total of three signatures that were called invalid by a Polk County judge are currently keeping her off the ballot. The judge made his decision that the Finkenauer campaign did not have enough signatures to make the ballot on Sunday. The Iowa Supreme Court is expected to rule on the appeal by this weekend.

The winner of the Democratic primary will run for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by Republican Charles Grassley.
