Iowa Tornado Damage and Power Outages

(Undated) -- The National Weather Service is confirming one tornado has touched down in Iowa and it is looking into the possibility of a few others. The confirmed tornado touched down Tuesday in Pocahontas County in northwest Iowa, causing some property damage. Emergency responders are still assessing damage in that area near Gilmore City. No injuries have been reported at this time. The National Weather Service will be sending out crews Wednesday to confirm if other tornadoes touched down in Mason City, Crawford County and a few other areas in northeast Iowa.

Minimal power outages are being reported after Tuesday's storm. MidAmerican Energy is saying under 140 customers across the state are experiencing power outages. Most of those are in western Iowa, with seventy affected customers in the Council Bluffs area. Another sixty affected customers are in Fort Dodge, and only six customers out of power in the Des Moines area.
