(Algona, Iowa) -- A Missouri man is in custody and charged with attempted murder in a northern Iowa shooting.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety says officers from the Algona Police Department responded to reports of shots fired and a car speeding away from the scene around 10:30 Saturday night. Officers found a victim who had been shot at, but not hit, and eventually determined the victim and the shooter knew each other. Police identified 20 year-old Michael Street of Fredericktown, Missouri as the suspected shooter.

He was pulled over by the Iowa State Patrol and Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement near Williams, Iowa. Street is charged with attempted murder and is being held in the Kossuth County Jail.
