Story County Road Crews Checking For Damage After Heavy Rains

(Story County, IA) -- Story County road crews are checking for damage after nearly 4 inches of rain fell on the county this (Friday) morning, prompting flash flood warnings in central Iowa. Story County Emergency Manager Keith Morgan says several secondary roads were closed due to water over the road and concerns about the integrity of the pavement. He says crews were to inspect the roads this afternoon to make sure they were safe for traffic.

Rainfall reports included:

3.90 inches 1 mile NE of Maxwell

3.80 inches NW of Maxwell

3.50 inches NW of Huxley

3.04 inches 4 miles east of Huxley

2.56 inches in Collins

Morgan is also reminding residents to sign up for a county-wide emergency management cell-phone notification system. to be notified about severe weather alerts.
