DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Senate approves a bill designed to expand the availability of E-15 gasoline across the state.

Under the bill, gas stations and convenience stores will be required to offer gasoline blended with 15-percent ethanol by 2026.

Retailers that sell less than 300,000 gallons of gasoline a year can ask for a waiver from the E-15 requirement.

Gas stations without E-15 compatible pumps can also ask for an exemption.

The bill does include cost-sharing provisions with the state for smaller stations that want to add equipment to sell E-15

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is expected to sign the bill into law.

In Iowa earlier this month, President Biden announced an emergency EPA waiver to allow the expanded sale of E-15 this summer as a way to offset rising gas prices.
