(Davenport, Iowa) -- A Rock Island man is facing multiple charges after police say he stole a woman's car, sped away while she was on the hood, and crashed into a building in Davenport.

An arrest affidavit says police responded to reports of someone holding onto the hood of a moving car around 5am on May 31st. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, which refused to stop and reportedly drove through a red light at West 3rd and North Marquette street.

According to the arrest affidavit, officers later found the vehicle on fire, crashed into a building in the 1400 block of West 4th Street, with the woman who had been on top of the hood on the ground next to it. She was taken to an area hospital.

The driver was identified as 21 year-old Quantarious Tapia, who was later arrested. He is being charged with first-degree robbery, eluding, domestic abuse assault, and leaving the scene of an accident.
