Former Iowa Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Contact with Students

(Logan, IA) -- A former Iowa teacher is in custody, accused of having inappropriate contact with six students.

The West Harrison School District placed Benjamin Work on administrative leave on April 22nd, 2022. after receiving a report of a possible inappropriate relationship between Mr. Work and a minor student. On June 3rd, Mr. Work resigned from the West Harrison Community School District.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation following the April report. They say the investigation revealed Mr. Work had an inappropriate relationship with six minor students during the 2021-2022 school year.

On June 10th, the Harrison County Sheriff's Office arrested Work at his residence and booked him into the Harrison County Correctional Facility. Work is facing 12 charges, including Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee (Class D Felony), Lascivious Conduct with a Minor (Serious Misdemeanor), and Indecent Contact with a Child (Aggravated Misdemeanor).
