Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Issues a Disaster Proclamation for Union County

(Union County, IA) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issues a disaster proclamation for Union County after severe weather struck the area on Tuesday, June 7th.

Parts of Adair, Madison, and Union counties were under a tornado warning on Tuesday, experiencing quarter-size hail and winds gusts above 65 miles per hour.

The proclamation makes funds available funds from the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program. Residents can apply for up to $5,000 to pay for damages to the family's home, food, clothing, and more. According to the press release from Governor Reynolds, "households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level for a family of three" qualify for the funds.

Residents have until July 25th, 2022, to apply for funds. The grant applications and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website here.
