Two Staff Injured In Lincoln Corrections Facility

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports two employees at the Community Corrections Center - Lincoln were injured after being assaulted by an inmate.

Corrections says the inmate punched both staff members in the face while they were getting ready to transfer him to another facility earlier this week.

One of the employees suffered a serious injury with a broken bone.

They say a third staff member used mace, and they were able to get the inmate to the ground and place him in restraints.

An investigation of the incident is underway.

If necessary, reports will be forwarded to the Lancaster County Attorney for possible determination of criminal prosecution.
