Both Sides Make Sentencing Views Known In Fortenberry Case

Federal prosecutors recommend prison time for former Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry.

Attorneys for the former First District Representative counter by telling a federal judge in Los Angeles their client should receive no prison time.

Both sides have now submitted their sentencing recommendations ahead of Fortenberry's June 28th sentencing date.

Prosecutors recommend Fortenberry be imprisoned for up for six months and receive a 30-thousand-dollar fine.

Fortenberry is scheduled to be sentenced after being convicted of lying to the FBI about an illegal campaign contribution from a foreign source during a 2016 fundraiser in California.
