Two Motorcyclists Hospitalized In Separate Crashes In East Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) -- Two motorcyclists are in the hospital after separate crashes that happened less than two-and-a-half hours apart on Des Moines's east side. Police say the first crash happened just after 8:00 p.m. Sunday near East 12th Street and University Avenue when a 24-year-old motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after being hit by a car. Police say the second crash happened around 10:30 p.m. when a 17-year-old motorcyclist ran a stop sign near East 26th Street and Maple Street and was hit by an SUV. They also suffered critical injuries. So far no charges have been filed in either crash.
