(Warren County, IA) -- Nearly 6,000 rural Warren County customers are affected by a boil order. The Warren County Water District says the boil order is for Milo, Martinsdale, New Virginia, Truro, and Saint Mary's. The boil order is due to a ruptured water line last (Sunday) night, that affected water levels and pressure in several water towers. Crews have fixed the water line, but residents are asked to boil water as a precaution, until samples come back clear and the advisory can be lifted.

Residents are asked to bring all water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth or preparing food to a boil. Boil for one minute and cool before using. Or, use bottled water. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Tap water can be used for bathing and similar purposes.

The city of Indianola operates their own water supply and is not affected by this order.
