(Des Moines, IA) -- Law enforcement agencies in Des Moines and surrounding suburbs will celebrate National Night Out Tuesday night, August 2nd. The annual tradition started more than 30-years ago, as a way to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen ties between police and residents and send an anti-crime message to criminals. Residents are asked to turn on their porch lights tomorrow night. There are also several activities planned throughout Des Moines and surrounding areas at neighborhood centers and city parks, churches, schools and businesses.
