Iowa City Human Rights Commission Accepting Human Rights Awards Nominations

(Iowa City, IA) -- The Iowa City Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for its Annual Human Rights Awards.

The awards honor individuals, businesses, and organizations who positively influence the growth of human rights. The following are the are six award categories:

  • Isabel Turner Award: Recognizing work for the rights of individuals to get fair treatment and/or volunteering time to the community.
  • Linda Severson Award: For outstanding contributions to human rights by an individual in a service organization.
  • International Award: For significant contributions to human rights in the global community.
  • Bill Reagan Award: For outstanding contributions by a business or organization to human rights.
  • Rick Graf Award: Recognizing the long-term commitment of an individual, business, or individual with a service organization, to a specific cause or for the benefit of a specific group of persons
  • Kenneth Cmiel Award: Recognizing a college student and/or graduate student who has followed up on their interest in and knowledge of human rights by actively working in the field in the dedicated and determined way that Ken Cmiel advocated during his lifetime.

The deadline for the 2022 Human Rights Awards nominations is September 22nd, 2022. Interested parties can submit nominations here.
