Iowa DNR Recommends Not Swimming in Nine Iowa Lakes

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is issuing swimming advisories for multiple lakes in the state.

After weekend testing, eight Iowa lakes showed high levels of E Coli. Another lake in southwest Iowa tested for another toxin as well.

The DNR recommends people don’t swim in the lakes, but said they won’t be closing them.

Iowa DNR is advising no swimming in the following lakes:

  • Emerson Bay Beach
  • Brushy Creek Beach
  • Pine Lake South Beach
  • Backbone Beach
  • Union Grove Beach
  • Big Creek Beach
  • Green Valley Beach
  • Nine Eagles Beach
  • Lake Darling Beach
