(Rock Island, IL) -- Rock Island County Health Department is expecting to start vaccine booster clinics next week for the new COVID-19 bivalent vaccines.

City leaders say boosters will be ready for walk-in clinics starting September 13th. Once started, the clinics will be available twice a week on the same days.

The Pfizer Booster is available for those 12 years and older, while Moderna is available for those 18 years and older at least two months after their most recent dose.

New boosters are designed to combat currently dominant Omicron subvariants.

Recipients are asked to bring their vaccination cards.
