(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa is ending the fiscal year with a surplus of more than a billion dollars for the second year in a row.

The state is looking at about $1.91 billion dollars leftover. Lawmakers will decide how that money will be used during the upcoming legislative session.

Governor Kim Reynolds is signing into law the elimination of the retirement income tax, some corporate tax reductions, and a 3.9% flat tax rate to kick in next year.
