State of Iowa Named Most Data Driven Government in the U.S.

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Center for Digital Government is naming Iowa the most Data Driven Government in the country.

"This award shows that the investments the State of Iowa made in Information Technology are yielding real results for Iowans," says Iowa Chief Information Officer Dr. Matt Behrens in a press release. "We feel this demonstrates the comprehensive way we are innovating and improving information technology in Iowa."

The award is one of 11 announced as part of the 2022 Digital States Survey, a biennial study of every state's information technology practices. The survey grades each state, evaluating based on streamline operations, service delivery, increases in capacity, and more.

The survey gives Iowa a "B+", putting Iowa in the top half of the county. In Iowa's evaluation, the Center for Digital Government notes Iowa made, "significant strides toward solid governance around how the state uses and upgrades its technology."

Leading the nation with "A" grades is Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, and Utah. Alaska and Wyoming receive the nation's lowest grades, a "C+".
